Debt Consolidation FAQs
Common debt consolidation questions answered
When will I be debt free?
Unlike a debt management plan, or an IVA, where there is a pre-determined period, debt consolidation will vary on your individual requirements. Please contact us, and we will find the right solution for you.
Do many people look for debt consolidation?
Hundreds of thousands of people in the UK today have debts that they cannot fulfil. Debt consolidation is a real option for managing your finances if you are sure you can meet your new commitments. If not, debt management plans, or IVAs can stop interest altogether. Please contact us and we will provide you with the best option that suits your individual needs.
Will my creditors hassle me if I don't keep up payment?
Yes. Unlike debt management schemes or IVAs, by consolidating your debts, you do not benefit from ongoing help and assistance in becoming debt free. It is entirely your responsibility to keep up-to-date with your repayments. If your new creditor(s) chase you for payment, we cannot help you in dealing with the situation.
Am I going to affect my credit score?
Yes – any official request for credit results in your credit rating being adversely affected. The extent of this depends on various factors such as amount requested, and existing debt levels.
If you have CCJs, or a very low credit rating, it may not be possible to obtain further credit for consolidation purposes.
